Operation Welcome Home

Soldiers love to be met with open arms when they return from days, weeks, and months "in country." Sadly, not every Soldier has someone waiting for them when they step off the plane. Some even go back to lonely barracks for their first night home.
NOT ANY MORE!
The KSU Office of Greek Affairs has partnered with the Manhattan Military Relations Committee and Fort Riley to launch Operation Welcome Home. Under this program, single Soldiers will be paired with a KSU sorority member who will be their personal welcome home ambassador. In addition, sororities will bake cookies and other tasty treats to welcome home the Soldiers, decorate their barracks with signs and banners and serve as their first smile from home.
If you are an FRG leader from a unit on Fort Riley and have troops returning in the next 30-60 days, please contact us to arrange for Operation Welcome Home support. You may call 785-776-8829 ext. 228 for more information.
During the month of April 2008, almost 4000 4th Brigade soldiers will return to Fort Riley from a tour in Iraq. Planning is currently underway to provide OWH support for each redeployment ceremony for this unit. Call Bevin for more information or to participate.
