How to become a Diplomat

Complete the letter of interest. Letters of interest will be accepted all year. They will be reviewed twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall. If you are accepted, you will be notified during that time. 

  • Complete the diplomat orientation. 
  • Must be a Chamber member in good standing. 

Meetings

Meetings are held every other month. 

Purpose

The purpose of the Diplomat Committee is to help new members form a connection with the Chamber through a mentoring process.

Objective

Establish and understanding with members and prospective members on how the Diplomats can assist them in becoming connected, active and satisfied Chamber members.

Responsibilities of a New Member Mentor:

  • Conduct personal visits with new members at least once a month during their first six months of membership. If the member is not responding after three months a representative from the Membership Committee will contact the new member. 
  • Maintain contact by inviting and informing new members of Chamber events and important news
  • Welcome new members to various Chamber functions
  • Reinforce the value of a Chamber membership
  • Assess and share any information that will be beneficial to Chamber staff to improve the membership experience.

Responsibilities of an Event Greeter Diplomat:

  •  Greet attendees at various Chamber events.
  •  Reinforce the value of Chamber membership.
  •  Attend the meetings that will take place every other month.
  •  Encouraged to invite members, especially new members to the events.

Responsibilities of an Event Farewell Diplomat:

  • Say farewell to attendees at various Chamber events.
  •  Reinforce the value of Chamber membership.
  •  Attend the meetings that will take place every other month.
  •  Encouraged to invite members, especially new members to the events.

Responsibilities of a Ribbon Cutting Diplomat:

  • Attend Chamber ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings.
  •  Reinforce the value of Chamber membership.
  •  Attend the meetings that will take place every other month.
  •  Encouraged to invite members, especially new members to the events.

Through the Chamber Diplomats, new member businesses:

  • Forge beneficial business relationships
  • Receive invitations to exclusive new member events
  • Receive a greater understanding of the structure, purpose, benefits, and achievements of the Chamber

Benefits of being a Diplomat

  • Forge beneficial business relationships.
  • Receive invitations to the semi-annual new member socials, which take place in the spring and winter.
  •  (6) Complimentary passes to the monthly Business After Hours event after 10 points have been earned.
  •  Your name and link to your business listed on the diplomat page of the Chamber website.
  •  Photo displayed on the diplomat page of the Chamber website. Photo provided by the diplomat. 
  •  The diplomat with the most points within each quarter will be recognized as Diplomat of the Quarter. This will be listed on the diplomat page of the Chamber website. It will also be mentioned in the monthly newsletter.
