The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 3rd Annual Business Awards Luncheon Tuesday, September 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Manhattan Conference Center at the Hilton Garden Inn. The event will be a great way to recognize those businesses that are going above and beyond in achieving excellence in a number of categories.
In addition to the five awards we have given over the past two years (listed below), we have added a new award this year. The Business of the Year award has been created to spotlight a local business of any size that exemplifies both business and civic leadership.
Here is a list of the returning awards and a brief description:
Cornerstone Award - The Cornerstone Award is given as a lifetime achievement award. This business will exemplify what being a "solid pillar of the community" is all about. It is given to a local business that has demonstrated growth in sales, employees and/or services since its origination. Additionally, it will be evident of active participation in the business community and their impact on the local community with association involvement as well as community volunteering.
Women/Minority Owned Business Award - Recognizes diverse business leaders and decision-makers across all industries who have a proven track record of excellence in advocating for others within their communities and workplaces throughout the local community.
Tourism/Hospitality Award - This award is presented to a business that has made a significant contribution to the tourism industry in the area. This business has created a new, innovative product, policy, service or event to promote and enhance tourism in the local community.
Entrepreneurial Spirit Award - This award will celebrate the entrepreneur who has led the way for their business. The nominee will demonstrate true entrepreneurial spirit through the creation of a new business locally, despite the risks involved. The entrepreneur will be noted for the creativity of the new product or service being offered as well as the demonstration of sound business practices.
Small Business of the Year Award - Awarded to a small business within the Manhattan community that exemplifies both business and civic leadership. Community involvement, management practices and overall financial performance are the primary criteria for this category.
We were thrilled to get a record number of nominations this year. The committee selected three finalists from each category and one Cornerstone winner. We will be releasing the name of the Cornerstone winner this week followed soon by the finalists in the other five categories. Those winners will be announced at the luncheon.
Please plan to attend the Business Awards Lunch at 11:30 a.m., September 13, at the Manhattan Conference Center as we announce and celebrate the winners of our 2022 Business Awards as well as induct two Chamber members into the Chamber's Legacy Circle for their 50-year membership in the organization.
