The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award is named in honor of long-tenured former Manhattan Chamber president Lud Fiser, who served from 1948 to 1975 and was responsible for such community developments as CiCo Park and Manhattan Industrial Park.
Wayne is the 53rd recipient of the Lud Fiser Citizen of the Year award.
Wayne R. Sloan is the CEO of BHS Construction. He is a 1975 graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in Construction Science. He is a graduate of the 1985 Leadership Manhattan class.
In 1977, he returned to Manhattan to join his father’s firm, Green Construction Company. During his time there, he held positions of Project Superintendent, Project Manager and Estimator. In January 1982, Wayne became an owner of BHL Construction and established the current name of BHS Construction, Inc. Wayne is now retired but still actively involved with BHS.
